ABOUT

The Setting

The dawn of the Kind safari is upon us, that charge being led by the Xigera Safari Lodge in northwestern Botswana. Set beneath a canopy of ancient trees, Xigera Safari Lodge effortlessly rests within a remote area of the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve, an area set aside to protect UNESCO World Heritage Site, Okavango Delta’s most important wetland and island habitats. Meaning, at this all-inclusive luxury escape, you can experience the magical gifts provided by the African wilderness on both land and water.

Expect incredible wildlife sightings from the moment you fly into camp, with beautiful leopards and lions a regular sight in and around the lodge. Set out by 4x4 through verdant terrain teeming with wild game, or cruise peaceful wetlands in a dugout canoe, then relax under a billion shining stars in pollution-free skies on the lodge’s lookout deck. These bucket-list experiences are why conservation and sustainability are taken so seriously at Xigera Safari Lodge. Caring for the environment with their “11 Steps to Sustainability” and empowering the local community is a priority in every aspect of lodge operations. Thanks to these efforts, future generations will come to know Kind safari as the norm.

Sleep and Sanctuary

The perfect nest to hang your hat (or pith helmet) at the end of a long day on safari awaits you at the lodge. Each of Xigera’s twelve spectacular guest suites take full advantage of their remarkable location, cocooned by the boughs of indigenous forests and gazing out over seasonal floodplains filled with wildlife. Spread across two islands to retain the aura of wilderness, and ensure privacy and peacefulness for guests, each suite sits on raised stilts, allowing both wildlife and the life-giving waters of the Okavango to pass beneath.

Individually, each suite is remarkable and individually decorated. As a whole, Xigera is a living gallery of African art and design, an entirely unique celebration of the continent’s creativity, honoring indigenous traditions while seeking out bold new interpretations. All suites feature spacious bathrooms offering both indoor and outdoor showers, with freestanding baths overlooking the Okavango wilderness. Also, enjoy secluded private outdoor decks featuring peaceful gazebos and king-size daybeds for quiet moments and quality family time in nature. You won’t be too isolated from the outside world; enjoy free in room Wi-Fi and flat screen televisions (although we bet you’ll hardly feel the urge to use them).

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Whether at the lodge overlooking the vast Okavango Delta, alfresco under the stars, or seated next to your 4x4 on the plains, Xigera lets you create and curate your own dining experience. Their talented chefs, led by Executive Chef Ziyaad Brown, have an ‘anything, any time’ approach –  think what, when and where. You will indulge in a unique culinary safari, seamlessly blending fresh local ingredients and African inspiration with the tradition of refined cuisine that has long been a hallmark of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection.

Nourish your body and soul with an ever-changing menu where there is equal focus on health-focused plates, including flavor-packed vegetarian and vegan dishes. You can expect to see such delicacies as tomato risotto or quinoa salad with roasted butternut & beetroot, feta cheese, whole seeds, citrus vinaigrette. Pair it with an impressive collection of handcrafted wines and special vintages from their sister-vineyard, Bouchard Finlayson, in South Africa’s Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for a truly memorable African feast.
