Since 1914, The Midnight Mission has been a beacon of light to Los Angeles’ homeless residents seeking a path to self-sufficiency.

The MISSION of Midnight Mission is to offer a path to self-sufficiency for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Why is it important?

Founded in 1914, The Midnight Mission has been offering a path to self-sufficiency to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. As a comprehensive homeless shelter and homeless services provider serving the Los Angeles homeless community, they take an approach that fuses care and compassion with meaningful accountability, providing the structure and the resources that people experiencing homelessness need to truly improve their lives. The 2022 Annual Homeless Count reports there are over 69,000 individuals without a home in Los Angeles, and that number is increasing daily. The Midnight Mission's work has never been more crucial.

Their Women's Crisis & Bridge Housing Program in LA's Skid Row provides safe shelter for women on the streets, which is essential considering female homelessness has increased by 55 percent, which is five and a half times higher than the rate of men. And over 90 percent of those women have experienced physical or sexual assault.

How do they do it?

With two facilities located in Southern California (Los Angeles & South Bay), The Midnight Mission is dedicated to helping those most in need in our community. They are more than just a homeless shelter; they offer a net of resources and support services that help guests and program participants get back on their feet and into productive lives. Their multi-faceted approach to homeless services helps community members make lasting changes.

Their 12-Step RecoveryHomelight Family Living, Job Readiness, Education and Career Preparedness, Emergency Homeless Services, and Workforce Development and Life Skills programs offer a compassionate bridge to help homeless individuals achieve and maintain healthy, productive lives. They remove obstacles and provide the accountability and structure that people who are experiencing homelessness need to be productive in their communities. Their conviction and commitment to their success propel Midnight Mission to achieve real transformation.
