Cala Luna, rated one of the top-10 hotels in Central America by TripAdvisor, is a proud partner of Tamarindo Art Wave, the first fine arts festival in the beautiful Costa Rica seaside surf town of Tamarindo.

Why is it important?

Tamarindo is one of Costa Rica’s most popular and important seaside towns on the Pacific coastline, yet while home to many artists and art lovers, it hadn’t had a fine arts festival until now. Since its inception, Tamarindo Art Wave has grown into one of the largest art events in Costa Rica, and has since hosted numerous events.

How do they do it?

Local artists and art lovers came together several years ago to start the Tamarindo Arts Foundation, which has since grown to numerous art events. Tamarindo Art Wave Festival is the headlining event, which they spend the entire year planning. During Costa Rica's low season, more than 40 businesses come together to turn their businesses into micro art centers, each hosting different artists. The multi-day event then brings in more than 75 artists and thousands of visitors for live music, art galleries, live demonstrations, and more.

In addition to the many partnering businesses, Tamarindo Art Wave is dependent on dedicated volunteers. Finally, local youth are a key element to the festival's success, as the foundation works with local schools for students to add their own art to the festival.

  • Donate. Tamarindo Art Wave Festival is a non-profit art event created by the community for the community, and as such depends on donations from near and afar to make it one of Costa Rica's leading art festivals.
