Conserve and protect Belize’s native wildlife and its critical habitats through wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and community education.

Why is it important?

Since 20121, ACES Wildlife Rescue has been dedicated to the conservation and protection of Belize's native wildlife and their critical habitats. In a country celebrated for its reefs, jungles, and extraordinary biodiversity, their work helps protect the fragile balance between people and nature by rescuing animals in crisis, providing rehabilitation, and, when possible, returning them to the wild where they belong. In addition to providing emergency response to injured, ill, or orphaned wildlife, ACES also seeks resolution for human/croc conflict. Just as importantly, ACES helps foster compassion through community education, showing that conservation is not only about saving species but also preserving the spirit of Belize’s natural heritage.

How do they do it?

ACES Wildlife Rescue operates as a hands-on rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation non-profit working in partnership with Belize’s Forest Department to protect native wildlife and the habitats they depend on. Based on Ambergris Caye, the organization provides 24/7 emergency response for injured, sick, orphaned, or displaced animals, while also managing human-wildlife conflict, especially focusing on the safe relocation of crocodiles when encounters occur near growing communities. Their work extends beyond rescues through scientific research, habitat restoration efforts such as mangrove planting, school presentations, summer camps, career day outreach, and public education programs that teach coexistence with wildlife. ACES has also created a sanctuary for non-releasable animals, allowing visitors to connect with Belize’s biodiversity while helping fund future rescue and conservation efforts.
