ABOUT

The Setting

It might be difficult to keep up with the Joneses when your next door neighbors are the British Royal family, but the historic five-star Milestone Hotel and Residences does just fine. Part of the family-owned Red Carnation Hotels, the Milestone offers a family home feel with the opulence and luxury you’d expect in such a posh enclave. This Victorian beauty’s leafy location, just opposite Kensington Gardens and steps from Hyde Park, places you in the heart of London’s outdoor treasures and in close proximity to the arty Notting Hill and Knightsbridge neighborhoods.

However, the Milestone’s crown jewel is its unwavering dedication to sustainability. They partner with Clean Conscience to help reduce waste and conserve energy and are actively working to eliminate single-use plastics and have found many innovative alternatives, including biodegradable straws and compostable coffee cup lids made from corn starch, to name a few.

Sleep and Sanctuary

The bodacious rooms and residences at Milestone are teeming with elegance and all the creature comforts one would need during a posh London sojourn. Each of the 43 guest rooms is a work of art – a grand statement of color and style – adorned with fine fabrics, fresh flowers, antique furnishings and rare artworks. No two rooms or suites are alike. Each of the 14 suites ranging from Junior to iconic Grand Master, has a distinct character and reclusive refinement, filled with curated artworks and bespoke charm.

If you opt to turn your sojourn into an extended stay with family, friends (and of course, Fido), perhaps the six luxury two or three-bedroom residences are your cup of tea. Located opposite Kensington Palace, each residence has direct access through the hotel or via your own private entrance. Enjoy 24-hour room service, twice-daily housekeeping service, full concierge service, complimentary use of Health Club, grocery shopping service and the hotel’s chauffeur at your beck and call.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Executive Chef Daniel Putz and his team make their mark, serving fine cuisine with an accent on modern British dishes in the Milestone Hotel’s curated selection of refined eateries. They balance their natural creativity with a superb collection of traditional comfort foods (organic and locally sourced). Please your palate with fine dining in Cheneston's Restaurant with its rich mahogany furniture; brunch or traditional Afternoon Tea in the chic Conservatory; or a light menu in the unique split-level Stables Bar. Unforgettable experiences await you as well, be dazzled tableside by the Art of Sabrage - whereby a bottle of Champagne is opened with a saber, a method that became popular in France during Napoleon’s reign. Or enjoy the alfresco glory of London’s beautiful parks. Enjoy an Afternoon Tea or Picnic Feast in Kensington Gardens during summer, served in traditional wicker baskets from The Milestone Hotel.

The Art of Foraging is a sustainable dining experience focused on promoting the freshest produce from our neighbourhoods. Guests are invited to join a Totally Wild UK professional forager to learn the art of foraging and to discover the vast range of wild edibles lying all around us. Once back at the hotel, Executive Chef Daniel Putz and his team will create a personalized dinner menu and cocktails, using the produce gathered during the foraging experience.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Plane
  • 13.5 miles from London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
  • 31.4 miles from London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
  • 11.4 miles from London City Airport (LCY)

There are usually taxis queuing for customers at London's airports. Only use a black cab or reputable minicab and never use unauthorized drivers. Ask the driver or minicab company how much your journey will cost beforehand. A metered trip in a black cab to/from Central London generally costs from £50 to £80 and takes 30 minutes to one hour.

By Train
  • The Heathrow Express is the fastest way to travel into Central London. For more information, and details of fares, visit the Heathrow Express
  • The Piccadilly line connects Heathrow Airport to Central London and the rest of the Tube system. The Tube is cheaper than the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect but it takes a lot longer and is less comfortable. Tube services leave Heathrow every few minutes from approximately 5.10am (5.50am Sundays) to 11.45pm (11.30pm Sundays). Journey time to Piccadilly Circus is about 50 minutes. There are three Tube stations at Heathrow Airport, serving Terminals 1-3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5. For more information, and details of fares, visit the Transport for London (TfL).  If you're going to be using London's public transport system, it's worth buying an Oyster card. The nearest Tube station is High Street/Kensington, which is serviced by the Circle and District Line. It’s about a 6 min walk.
  • The Gatwick Express is the fastest way into Central London. There are non-stop trains every 15 minutes between Gatwick Airport's South Terminal and London Victoria Station, then a 10 min train on the Circle line to High Street/Kensington. Journey time is 30 minutes. There are four daytime services an hour, and hourly services throughout the night. Southern Railway offers regular train services during the day from Gatwick to London Victoria via East Croydon and Clapham Junction.
  • London City Airport has its own station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). Services run every eight to 15 minutes. Fares on the DLR are the same as those on The Tube.  The DLR connects to the Tube at Canning Town and  Canary Wharf (Jubilee Line) or Bank (Central Line).  For more information, and details of fares, visit the Transport for London (TfL)website
By Bus

From Heathrow Central Bus Station take the N2 every 2 hours to Kensington Palace. Then walk about 380ft to the hotel. Travel time is about 55min.

By Automobile

Contact concierge for directions and information on the valet parking service. Central London operates a Congestion Chargezone between the hours of 7am - 10pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. The hotel is not located in the Congestion Zone but you may incur charges if you travel through it. However, the hotel is in the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which operates 24 hours a day, except for Christmas Day.

Head Chauffeur Colin Monplaisir and his team await to whisk you off to wherever you desire with a fleet of private, chauffeur-driven cars, which includes a Bentley Arnage, Range Rover “Autobiography” and Mercedes V Class. Sit back and relax in sumptuous luxury as you enjoy the ride to your destination. See the sights of London, be chauffeured to your favorite restaurant or travel to the airport in the most elegant and convenient way possible.
