The Setting
The utterly charming and trendy town of Healdsburg provides a perfect backdrop for the environmentally conscious h2hotel. An effortlessly stylish eco hotel nestled in the heart of wine country just steps off the historic Healdsburg plaza, h2hotel’s minimal, organic aesthetic proves that green is the new black.
Sure to inspire Pinterest pinner’s idea of a laid-back, wine country getaway, the interior and exterior are relaxed, colorful and airy. And the fact that H2 is one of a few LEED GOLD certified hotels in California is icing on the cake for this Kind Hotel.
Sleep & Sanctuary
36 airy guest rooms are sundrenched (no need to have lights switched on all day to avoid bumping into things), and natural hues play off pops of tangerine and sage creating an easy, relaxed atmosphere. Each room from Eco-King to Eco-Suite has a little sitting area featuring a fair trade rug (perfect for afternoon rosé with friends) and a beautifully cut steel balcony for soaking in the wine country freshness.
Luxurious bathrooms take sustainable chic to another level. Heath Ceramic tiles, locally crafted at their factory in Sausalito, line the bathtubs and showers. In here, the word bathtub is really an understatement—the hotel’s Eco-Suite and Eco-Studios have Japanese inspired plunge tubs. Soft organic towels and custom all natural bath products in full-sized refillable containers make it easy to stay clean but hard to leave.
Eat. Pray. Eat
Spoonbar Restaurant - If you are visiting Healdsburg, you no doubt love delicious, local, sustainable food and - hand crafted cocktails. Luckily, the contemporary American cuisine at H2’s Spoonbar will feed that craving. It is named for the playful “Spoonfall” water sculpture crafted out of hundreds or upcycled spoons, twinkling and dancing welcoming guests to eat, drink and enjoy.
Executive Chef, Matt D’Ambrosi creates delicious feature menus with seasonal ingredients from local purveyors...wine country is farm country after all. Standouts include fresh, bright vegetable dishes like brussel sprouts in refreshing lemon, a sweet corn gundi (little doughy pillows of goodness) and savory vegetable soups. Vegetarians delight. Your taste buds will be doing a happy dance.
Bar - The walls of this light, airy bar open up to let the outside in. Served on a polished bar of recycled wood, Spoonbar's award winning cocktails feature true farm to bar cocktails created with locally grown organic herbs, fruits and vegetables and artisanal crafted spirits from down the street to across an ocean. A menu of local wines and brews let you feature the best of wine country without leaving your home away from home.
Happy Hour - Happy hour is a rare find in wine country (tasting rooms generally open around 11 am). Spoonbar supports the hour of happy daily from 5 to 6:30 pm. The evolving menu features a classic martini with the gin or vodka of the day, as well as a few small bites and local barrels and brews.
Receptobar - Happy hour or after hours, step away to the private and eclectic, global-chic lounge. While Instagramming the colorful space, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail from Spoonbar’s artisanal menu or grab a newspaper and a coffee from local roasters, The Flying Goat.
THE ART OF DESTRESSING
Need a little pampering? You should absolutely utilize the spa at H2’s sister property, Hotel Healdsburg. Just a short stroll down the block past a few shops and tasting rooms, you can relax and indulge in farm to spa face and body treatment featuring locally sourced and crafted products. Enjoy the bounty of Sonoma’s farmers: invigorate your senses with a Meyer Lemon Sage massage or dive into the local flavor with a wine and honey wrap.
The transportation of choice for Healdsburg locals is of the 2-wheel man powered variety (keeping it green). Totter around town, wine tasting or to the farmers market on a complimentary PUBLIC cruising bicycle complete with a wicker basket for all of your local and artisanal finds.
Soak up some California sunshine at the peaceful solar heated swimming pool. It is a little oasis tucked under the trees lining Foss Creek. H2 is committed to preserving this creek with the Foss Creek Restoration Project.
Sunday mornings distress, stretch and breathe in a complimentary Ashtanga yoga class.

Eco King – Anything but basic, the eco king rooms feature uber plush king beds, 100% organic cotton linens, glass walk-in showers and all natural bath products. Enjoy a glass of wine al fresco on a private patio or balcony overlooking the lush courtyards, Foss Creek or Fitch Mountain (a vigorous local’s hike if you are in the mood).
Eco Studio – The slightly larger eco studio features a king bed, private patio, built in desk with ergonomic chairs and a cozy couch for reading the morning paper or just relaxing. The ultimate in relaxation is the Japanese inspired plunge tub. You don’t see these in just any hotel.
Eco Suite – For the family or travelers who need a little more space, the one bedroom Eco Suite has two balconies to enjoy those breath taking Healdsburg views. The living room holds a convertible couch and spacious lounge area with a powder room. The spacious bedroom has its own master bath with that delicious plunge tub.
Furry Friends:
As long as your fur-baby is under 85lbs, you can bring Fido! H2 welcomes your pets for an additional $99. They, too, get the royal treatment with a swanky dog bed, tasty treats, and bowls for their supper and a little garden near the pool for them to romp and play.
EXTRAS
You will feel like you’re at the museum of sciences once you check out the ecologically progressive and incredibly cool and fascinating living roof, decked with vegetation. A thing of beauty in its own right, the planted roof insulates the hotel from heat and cold, nurtures wildlife and filters rain runoff – all the while creating a natural oasis of calm within the hotels open, cheerful halls.
Daily Breakfast Offered complimentary to each guest. The h2 breakfast includes juices, fresh fruit, house made baked goods, cereal, egg dishes and Flying Goat Coffee and tea.
Stay hydrated. On each floor, a water bar keeps guests refreshed with purified sparkling and still H2O on-tap. Use the refillable glass carafes available in the mini fridge in your room. A tad hungry? Tasty organic and local snacks are well stocked, too.
No excuses! H2 encourages guests to travel kindly by placing rustic wire “recycle” baskets in the guestrooms.
