In a region known for indulgence and abundance, the grassroots non-profit Calistoga Cares Food Bank ensures that no neighbor is left behind, offering fresh produce, pantry staples, and a warm smile to those navigating food insecurity. More than a food pantry, it’s a community lifeline bridging farms with families, volunteers with purpose, and compassion with action. The Calistoga Food Bank stands as a reminder that kindness is as essential as nourishment and that a truly thriving community is one where everyone has a seat at the table.

How do they do it?

Calistoga Cares Food Bank is an all volunteer community based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving food insecure households of Calistoga, CA. The Food Bank survives solely on the generosity of Calistoga residents and the greater Napa Valley as well as many small and large members of the local business community. Open twice a month, the food bank serves local families, seniors, and individuals in need with a warm, welcoming spirit and a focus on fresh, nutritious groceries. Through community-supported food drives, generous donations, and partnerships with local markets and farms, they fill bags with fruits, vegetables, pantry staples, and hope. Their volunteer-led team creates a space that’s more than a distribution site, it’s a place of connection, where neighbors look after one another and compassion is as nourishing as the food itself.

  • Reserve a stay at Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort, where every stay gives back. Each stay includes a donation to Calistoga Cares Food Bank. Reserve Now. 
  • Volunteers are always welcome at the Food Bank and encouraged to arrive around 9:30am on distribution dates (2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month) for sorting, boxing and packing bags before distribution begins. Additional volunteers are needed during distribution hours of 2pm - 5pm. More information can be found here.
  • Monetary donations are always welcome. Calistoga Cares Food Bank survives on the generosity of Calistoga residents and the greater Napa Valley as well as many small and large members of the local business community. They contract directly with the Community Action of Napa Valley (CANV) for food donations and purchases, as well as, Cal-Mart in Calistoga.
