Restore and protect aquatic ecosystems for the use and enjoyment for all.
Why is it important?
Florida’s beaches, estuaries, and world-famous waters all depend on one thing, a healthy Everglades. Captains For Clean Water is a grassroots nonprofit working to restore the natural flow of water through the Everglades, which reduces harmful discharges, prevents toxic algae blooms, and brings clean water back to Florida Bay and coastal estuaries. Since forming in 2016 to address the problems of Florida’s poor water management practices, Captains For Clean Water has seen progress for Florida’s waters and America’s Everglades achieved at a record pace. There’s a renewed focus and sense of unity among those involved in this fight for clean water. From advocacy organizations to state agencies to federal entities, the goal is clear: prioritize restoring and protecting Florida’s waters, the lifeblood of the state.
