Empower and improve the quality of life of the  children of Tulum by  providing a safe place, fostering inclusion, cross-cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and cognitive and socio-emotional development.  

 

Why is it important?

Los Amigos de la Esquina (LADLE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to provide positive tools for children in the Yucatán Peninsula through Art, Environmental, Life Skills and Wellbeing activities, promoting holistic development in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms.

LADLE is a community center where children receive workshops that are essentials to improve their quality of life because it creates a safe, inclusive space where local kids can learn, play, and grow. LADLE empowers children with tools that support their development beyond the classroom. 

How do they do it?

LADLE (Los Amigos de la Esquina) empowers children in Tulum by offering a safe, creative, and enriching community space where young people can learn, imagine, and thrive. Their After-School Esquina Program provides through areas like Arte en la Esquina, children explore painting, crafts, music, and hands-on creativity; Eco-LADLE teaches environmental stewardship, recycling, and respect for Tulum’s fragile ecosystems. LADLE Reads fosters literacy through storytelling circles, reading support, and access to books.  They provided structured play that developed skills  like legos helps for concentration and focus, and socio-emotional learning activities that encourage collaboration and confidence. Operating as an open, inclusive grassroots organization, LADLE partners with local families, volunteers, and regional nonprofits to deliver consistent programming in a welcoming outdoor neighborhood setting. Their most essential task is ensuring every child who walks through their corner feels supported, inspired, and part of a caring community.
