Charity MIssion

To serve as a center of growth and hope for underprivileged communities in Tanzania, supporting men, women and children through access to healthcare, social support, and education that nurtures dignity, resilience and opportunity.

Why is it important?

In northern Tanzania, Africa Amini Alama is quietly transforming lives through a model rooted in dignity, education, and community empowerment. Founded in 2007 to create sustainable opportunities in rural Maasai communities, the organization provides access to healthcare, education, women’s empowerment programs, and vocational training that allow families to build brighter futures close to home. By supporting schools, medical clinics, and small-scale economic initiatives, Africa Amini Alama nurtures both people and place, ensuring that progress grows from within the community itself. Their work reminds travelers and global citizens alike that meaningful change often begins with compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for local culture.

How do they do it?

Operating at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania, Africa Amini Alama works through an interconnected network of community-led projects that nurture health, learning, and dignity. In healthcare, the organization runs the Africa Amini Polyclinic, a natural healing and preventive care center, and a “driving doctors” outreach program that brings medical teams into remote Maasai communities where access to care is limited.

In education, it supports multiple primary schools, four secondary schools, and vocational training programs,

providing high-quality instruction, meals, and opportunities for children who might otherwise never attend school. Its social support initiatives extend even further, operating programs such as the Kindervilla orphanage, women’s empowerment groups and cooperatives, and clean-water projects that help families achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

To nourish over 3,000 schoolchildren, Africa Amini Alama is cultivating a model of regenerative agriculture that provides healthy, self-sufficient food while integrating these sustainable practices into the school programs. In addition, it is bringing traditional healing plants from its farms to the patients.

About Africa Amini Life

Set against the sweeping savannas of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa Amini Life offers travellers a rare blend of soulful safari hospitality and meaningful cultural connection. The eco-lodge features handcrafted cottages built with natural materials and sweeping verandas that open to wide African savannah, creating a peaceful base for sunrise yoga, guided walks with Maasai hosts, mountain bike rides across the plains, hikes to the top of Mukuru Hill, regarded sacred by the Maasai tribe, and evenings around the fire beneath a canopy of stars. Yet the experience goes far beyond the lodge itself, guests are invited to learn about and support the work of Africa Amini Alama, the nonprofit behind the project, whose initiatives include a community hospital, schools, women’s empowerment programs, regenerative agricultural practices and outreach that brings healthcare and opportunity to rural Maasai communities.
