ABOUT
The Setting
What began well over a century ago as a family estate, vineyard and working ranch with prized trotters, is now MacArthur Place, Sonoma’s foremost luxury resort and spa. More than six acres of lush manicured grounds, historic buildings, winding flagstone paths, firepits, archways and secret nooks make up this magical retreat nestled near historic Sonoma Plaza’s shopping and socializing. Another notch on the belt is sustainability that is compliant with California’s stringent Green Building Standards Codes, featuring sustainably sourced new and recycled materials, energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and bioswales that collect and store rainwater runoff for biofiltration, to name a few. And, it wouldn’t be Sonoma without world-class dining and an artist-in-residence program tossed in for good measure.
Sleep and Sanctuary
The 64 rooms at MacArthur Place are broken down into three categories; standard, deluxe and premium. Mind you, they all feel like grand suites in the luxury and Kind amenity department. Most feature balconies, fireplaces, curated provisions bars (kombucha anyone?) and outdoor showers. Each guest room has been outfitted with Evolve Controls to reduce energy consumption with wireless, cloud-based room control and management. Bathrooms feature one-of-a-kind millwork vanities in neutral tones and organic Grown Alchemist bath products, developed specifically for the property. Lastly, all rooms have some creative visual element — more than 100 photographs, paintings, sculptures, mixed-media works, and tapestries grace the spaces in surprising and delightful ways, giving one the feeling of being in an art gallery.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
With acclaimed executive chef Cole Dickinson at the helm, MacArthur Place introduces a fully reimagined food and beverage program: Layla, a vibrant contemporary and elevated Mediterranean restaurant is the crown jewel of the hotel; The Bar at MacArthur, a warm and inviting bar-lounge that serves a curated selection of cocktails, beers and an easy all-day menu; and The Porch, a communal coffee shop, stock house, and marketplace.
