ABOUT
The Setting
Surrounded by the rugged Swiss Alps, including the pinnacle of mountain aesthetic, the Matterhorn, is the village of Zermatt, home to CERVO Mountain Resort. While the resort, comprising seven modern lodges made from natural materials gives off quaint alpine chalet vibes, CERVO has a worldly vision. The resort has undergone a complete makeover with a renewed emphasis on the importance of sustainability, in harmony with the nature of Zermatt (the entire town is a combustible engine-free zone). Among some initiatives, guests are offered a carbon-neutral stay in accordance with myClimate, a newly implemented geothermal heat pump allows the hotel to generate 95 percent of its energy requirements, and 10 percent of water sales are donated to the Water is Right Foundation. You might even say when it comes to environmental awareness, CERVO Mountain Resort is putting its best foot forward (even if that foot is in a ski boot).
Sleep and Sanctuary
Here’s where CERVO feels like a unique ski village unto itself, your accommodation options are 54 rooms and suites set in seven separate Alpine lodges. Nomad Lodge is perfect for the adventurer who loves to plop in comfort after a long day out or take in mountain views from a private terrace. The Alpinist Lodges specializes in peace and relaxation, from luxurious double rooms to suites, each is equipped with a personal bar, kitchen, handmade Hästen beds and views of Matterhorn. The exclusive Huntsman Lodge offers guests Spa Suites with saunas and balcony tubs to giant triple suites and the opportunity to occupy the entire lodge. Lastly, the Overlook Lodge is set 300m away from the resort with individual apartments ranging from Cosy Studios to three-bedroom penthouses. There’s definitely a lodging style for everyone (including your furry friend)!
Eat. Pray. Eat.
Zermatt is well known as a valley of culinary curiosities and accolades ( it does border Italy after all). Luckily, some of these most revered eateries are in the hotel. The CERVO spirit is alive in well in the bars and three restaurants, all focus on fresh and sustainable ingredients and guests are offered Zermatt water (filtered and carbonated if desired), with 10% of the sales going to WIR (Water Is Right). The foundation advocates access to clean and affordable drinking water and sanitation worldwide. As far as Aprés ski is concerned, ski-in to end a day on the slopes in style. On two terraces, located directly at the end of the slope, find a curated program promising special evenings like live DJ sessions and delicious drinks. With a stunning view of the Matterhorn and surrounded by warm hospitality, guests and locals alike celebrate the unique CERVO feeling.
