ABOUT
The Setting
Hotel Villa Lapas is perched on the banks of Rio Tarcolitos, as it winds alongside stunning Carara National Park. Just a 60-minute jaunt from San Jose, this hacienda-style hotel on 500 acres of forest preserve invites Kind Travelers to immerse themselves in not one, but two unique Costa Rican ecosystems: the Dry Pacific and the Tropical. Observe and photograph over 400 species of exotic birds, white-face capuchin monkeys, anteaters, poison-arrow frogs and the crocodiles of the Tárcoles River, all outside your doorstep (don’t worry, the crocs won’t actually be outside your door). Or, discover your wild side traversing suspension bridges through dense rainforest, gliding across waves in the Pacific via kayak, or exploring the rustic coast on horseback.
Sleep and Sanctuary
In each of Villa Lapas’ 76 rooms, you'll be immersed in colonial jungle simplicity and comfort. Relax in colonial village rooms, where just outside your door you’ll find stunning rainforest paired with relaxing jungle rhythms, to elevated rooms making the over 230 species of local exotic birds and parrots next-door neighbors. Rest for each day’s exhilarating exploration doused in comfort with pillow-top beds and (jungle luxuries not to be taken for granted), hot water rain showers, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. All-inclusive options are also available.
