ABOUT
The Setting
The Valsana Hotel sits at the entrance of Arosa village, bordering the Arosa forest, flanked by boat-dotted Obersee Lake, and surrounded by beautiful panoramic views of the Graubünden mountains. In other words, The Valsana seamlessly connects its guests to the dramatic Swiss nature and scenery typically reserved for daydreams and fairytales. A Green Globe Certified hotel, Valsana has been offering guests a 100% climate-neutral stay since 2019. The certification also reflects their daily commitment to making hotel operations as sustainable as possible. They offer carbon-neutral transportation to and from Arosa train station and in winter months, the Valsana complex is geothermally heated using recycled heat from appliances. Inspired by the majestic mountains surrounding Valsana, Moving Mountains is their holistic holiday experience. Moving Mountains encourages travelers to Move, Play, Nourish, Rest, and Give (a philosophy we’ve been known to celebrate, too).
Sleep and Sanctuary
Valsana offers guests sleek Apline refuge in the form of 40 rooms ranging from twin doubles to two-bedroom suites as well as nine unique family apartments. All dwellings feature balconies to capture Arosa’s breathtaking scenery and interiors designed by Carlo Rampazzi, whose open-concept handiwork highlights the artistry of surrounding nature. Just some things to daydream about as you make your journey through the Swiss countryside; plush Elky Natur mattresses, a minibar with exclusively Swiss products, an in-room Nespresso machine, in-room Yoga from Moving Mountains, and a record player to better pair those sweet views with some sweet sounds.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
The perfectly decorated centerpiece in the stunning Valsana is Twist Restaurant. Whether in the beautiful dining room or on Twist Terrace, you’ll find Twist taking a holistic approach to dine and drink. The menu celebrates regional fare peppered with healthy and plant-based alternatives alongside a robust selection of exclusively European wines. Kindly celebrate your culinary adventure with touches the restaurant implements such as sourcing only sustainable, free-range ingredients, local Arosa water served in reusable bottles, and kitchen waste is sent to producers of biogas fuels. For those hotel guests who prefer to stay in their hotel room, you may enjoy delicious Maran cheese fondues with a view on their own hotel room balcony.

HOW TO GET THERE
By Plane
160 km from Zurich Airport (ZRH)
By Train
Arosa is roughly two hours away from Zurich. Catch the AirTrain that goes to the main station, Zürich Hauptbahnhof. From there, take any number of trains to Chur ($30-$45). From Chur take the hourly Re R or Ext trains to Arosa. Altogether, the trains take about three hours and make for some spectacular scenery. We recommend the hydroelectric train with the Rhaetian Railway. In fact, the Rhaetian Railway has been using hydroelectric power on the Chur-Arosa line since its construction in 1912-14. Shuttle service is provided for guests using the Rhaetian Railway.
By Automobile
If you're coming by car, Chur, the nearest city, is a 40-minute drive on the A3, a windy upward road. If you travel by electric car, you will find numerous charging stations in Arosa. Chains or 4x4s are sometimes required when driving into the snow. There are four free charging stations for electric vehicles at the hotel.
