ABOUT
The Setting
Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills is a postcard town once known only for mining. These days, Grass Valley is home to everything that would make a Kind Traveler feel like they’ve found gold -- a vibrant art scene, local farmers' markets, organic vineyards, historic museums, locally-owned boutiques and antique shops, and natural surroundings ready for exploration. The one constant in town has been the Holbrooke Hotel.
Originally constructed as the Golden Gate Saloon in 1852, the Holbrooke has long been considered Grass Valley’s social center and was declared a California State Landmark in 1974. However, in the years following, some of the shine began to fade. Recently, a team of local architects, designers and craftspeople have revitalized and modernized her while preserving the historic charm. She’s ready to show off her newly renovated digs to a Kind new generation of travelers and Grass Valley’s increasingly diverse population.
