Immerse yourself amongst majestic canyons, wildlife and the sea at The Ranch at Laguna Beach.
The Setting
It’s no coincidence that Laguna Beach is known as an artist’s enclave, after all, this coastal town nestled into quiet canyons is itself a work of art. A mere 350 yards up from the soft shore of the Pacific is a rustic ranch rich in history (you’ll find pictures of its history throughout) embodying the bohemian spirit of its surroundings and the perfect balance of canyon and sea.
The Ranch at Laguna Beach, recently named one of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World (the only in California), is awarded for the highest standards in authenticity, enrichment, and a dedication to preserving our planet’s natural and cultural heritage. Now, one could argue Laguna Beach is also known for a certain level of extravagance and The Ranch meets that requirement with its own brand of laid back luxury.
Take in the golden coastal views as you stroll 87 natural acres, or take a dip in the heated saltwater Pond pool. Beachgoers can take the complimentary shuttle down to Aliso Beach. Don't miss Harvest restaurant specializing in garden-fresh ingredients fresh from The Ranch’s own garden and canyon views as Bambi and her furry friends stroll by.
Sleep and Sanctuary
Loosely scattered throughout The Ranch’s pristine 87-acre grounds are just under a hundred rooms and suites. Surround yourself with casual coastal elegance with vistas for days in your choice of cozy Canyon Rooms, spacious Creekside Studio Suites, One Bedrooms Suites, Two Bedroom Cottages and the magnificent Treehouse. All feature private furnished patios, comfy beds with Ranch signature bedding and Italian linens, modern walk-in showers, state-of-the-art tech, and coastal ranch estate furnishings compliments of Tuvalu.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
Here’s some good news: one of Orange County’s buzziest restaurants that seamlessly blends California’s history of organic farming and seasonal ingredients, along with a lively bar focusing on bespoke elements and craft cocktails, just happens to be at The Ranch at Laguna Beach. We’re talking about Harvest. This handsome space and al fresco patio offers top notch views and seasonal comfort food, integrating fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables grown in the hotel’s own half-acre Harvest Garden.
Delight in culinary twists like a cauliflower steak with fennel and almond puree, pickled cauliflower, scallion pesto and smoked paprika. Then, head over to The Bar where you’ll find 180 degree views of the canyon from your seat, while you sip on seasonally handcrafted and aged cocktails, perhaps a local brew from one of 18 taps, or a sommelier-curated coastal wine varietal. Open breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bar stays open a little later.
Those seeking a more rustic and casual cafe vibe will swoon over Ben’s Pantry. This neighborhoody coffee stop is the epitome of canyon culture. Here, you’ll find artisan brews from the vintage espresso machine, upscale grab-and-go bites for your beach picnic or golf outing, and delectable pastries for your sweet tooth. Sunrise to sunset, this is the place to be for Laguna locals in the know. Be sure to check the daily chalkboard specials and grab an artisan sandwich, sip a California coastal wine, and soak up the California sun.
In Room Dining is also available serving streamlined selections from Harvest most hours of the day and evening.
The Art of De-stressing
Soothe your soul at the Sycamore Spa, a peaceful canyon bungalow spanning 3,000 sq feet of indoor/outdoor space that harnesses the healing powers of natural sunlight and coastal breezes. Surrender to the bohemian vibe of the laid-back beach lifestyle with garden and sea inspired treatments like a Garden Sage Scrub, a vigorous exfoliation using sand, sugar and salt before a relaxing hydration rub using canyon-inspired essential oils that will leave you feeling invigorated.
The 24 hour Fitness Center at Sycamore Spa redefines the term “state-of-the-art,” by being flat out futuristic. Sure, there’s the old school staples like free weights, but the gym also includes a Technogym Unity personal fitness experience enabled treadmills and ellipticals. The system interfaces with the “Mywellness Cloud” virtual training system which enables you to train in a variety of outdoor scenes and backdrops. Cool, right?
Also feel free to join one of the offered weekend morning fitness classes. Awaken your mind and body with the Rise & Shine stretch class, meet at the Pond pool, mats and beautiful scenery included.
Another way to de-stress at The Ranch (or stress, depending on your game) is their GEO Certified 9 hole, Par 32 Golf Course. Carved into the naturally dramatic and lush walls of Aliso and Wood Canyons, the course creates an ultra-private playing experience with stunning views and elevation changes on every fairway.
