Come experience the re-emergence of a Sonoran Desert icon with all the Kind trimmings

The Setting

In the shadows of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, Arizona, what was once a resort playground for Scottsdale’s mid-century jet set is now re-imagined (from the ground up) as the Mountain Shadows Resort. Today’s jetsetters can walk in the footsteps of past revelers with modern luxury and today’s sustainability standards at every turn. You’ll find a sprawling fitness center and two huge sparkling pools at the Citizens Club, an on-site art gallery featuring renowned artists with local connections, and the majestic Sonoran Desert begging for your exploration. There’s a reason they named it Paradise Valley.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Mountain Shadows Resort features 183 modern guest rooms and suites with views facing Camelback Mountain or the pristine pool. Also find a seperate tower with 48 luxurious residences for that upgraded feel. Each guest room is a personal retreat where guests can rest and re-energize amidst the best of mid-century modernism and contemporary design combined to create spaces that feel open and luxurious (like super sexy open-glass showers). Enjoy plush bedding, custom furnishings and a cocktail cart with inspired recipes. Most guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass for abundant natural light and private patios or balconies perfect for enjoying the stunning desert scenery (some rooms even feature freestanding tubs on your balcony). Pets are always welcome in select rooms and pampered with a heads up before arrival.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Led by notable Executive Chef Charles Wiley, Hearth ’61 honors the year the town was incorporated and the hearth oven that imparts smoky flavor to many signature dishes. The restaurant features an exhibition kitchen and floor-to-ceiling glass looking out to the scenic patio where guests can enjoy seasonal ingredient-driven American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Dishes incorporate local and organic ingredients and flavors from local ranches. A bar and sunken living room lounge offer additional spaces to gather and imbibe throughout the day. Additionally, Rusty’s at the Short Course and the Pool Bar at The Citizens Club can keep you nourished with healthy bites and organic juices.

○      Hearth ‘61 - Enjoy local and organic inspired dishes and flatbreads all day and for weekend brunch, we especially love the quinoa and lentil stew for dinner with shitake mushrooms and asparagus.

○      Rusty’s at the Short Course - This hangout serves up breakfast and coffee for the early starters, along with lunch and happy hour for the afternoon crowd. Dine in the stylish lounge or outside on the shaded patio overlooking Camelback Mountain and the stunning greens of The Short Course.

○      In-room dining is available around the clock to satisfy those cravings.

The Art of De-stressing

The Citizens Club, named after the volunteer committee whose mission it was to create an incredible quality of life in Paradise Valley, is your catchall for wellbeing. Here, you’ll decompress with two sparkling pools for laps or lazing, and a sprawling fitness center offering pilates, aerial yoga, cycling and barre classes.

For those hoping for a traditional spa experience, the courtesy Tesla Model X can whip you over to neighboring sister property, Serenity Camelback Spa. However, should you still wish to rejuvenate on property, say, in your room or balcony, Thai, Shiatsu, Swedish or reflexology massages can be arranged.

You don’t have to just gaze at the Sonoran Desert beauty from your balcony, you can immerse yourself in it with a guided hike to Camelback Mountain, or play a quick 18 holes at the Short Course, a picturesque par-3 golf course with beauty and challenges in spades.
