For Kind Travelers seeking wellness, style and colorful downtown neighborhoods, Loden Hotel in Vancouver has you covered.

The Setting

“You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” It’s quite fitting to find that Dr. Seuss quote on your bed stand at the award winning Loden Hotel in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour neighborhood. Set just off a quiet one-way residential street, steps from downtown’s core, the waterfront, and lush Stanley Park, this stunning contemporary boutique hotel is situated perfectly for kind travelers who want to take in all that Vancouver has to dish out. The sleek glass towered Loden is an inspired representation of its coastal British Columbia surroundings, find natural stone and copper, interiors rich in detail, color and texture and amenities placating to the health focused. Head out on a trekking adventure into the nearby mountains, discover the city on one of the hotel’s complimentary Electra-Townie cruiser bikes, hitch a ride anywhere in the Loden’s own London-style black cab, pillage the Robson Street shopping district, walk the postcard worthy waterfront, enjoy French bistro fare and lively spirits with the lively and spirited at tres sexy Tableau, or simply melt into one of the lobby’s velveteen couches and enjoy the crackle of the fireplace. With so much to do, the only question left to ask is, which direction will you choose?

Sleep and Sanctuary

Being a quiet sanctuary within the city, the Loden prides itself on the personal touches, and it has those in spades. Every detail, service and hotel amenity has been designed to offer guests an enhanced Vancouver experience with all the comforts of home. Each of the 77 rooms and suites balance comfort with the  provocative. The higher you go the more fabulous the views of the harbor and mountains with floor-to-ceiling windows, not to mention enticing reflected views off of curved mirrored walls behind king sized beds (take that as you will). Rooms also feature WiFi, comfy beds, nightly turn-down service, rain showers (and in some cases) deep soaking tubs, flat screen TV’s, and the most Vancouver-y touch, your own yoga mat. The Loden also boasts of an allergy-free floor devoid of furs, feathers and pets, etc. Luckily, your furry kind traveling companions are welcome to join you on any of the other floors, and not to be outdone, are treated like regular guests with plush and luxurious  beds, food dishes and freshly baked biscuits and dog walking maps. A $45 charge applies and a dog sitting service is offered for an additional charge.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Adjacent to the lobby, find Tableau. A lively scene replete with locals and guest alike, the French inspired restaurant seamlessly blends fresh local fare with bistro cool. Discover a beautifully renovated interior with a soupcon of 40’s era lounge chic that combines old world classic bistro elements with modern touches (think rich leather booths against checkerboard marble floors) and a menu that mixes the flavors of Paris with fresh west coast ingredients. Veggies can savor a squash and leek risotto with lemon, sage, mascarpone and walnuts, or creamy mushrooms on brioche toast. Seasonally crafted cocktails and tap beer can be had, as well as an approachable menu of regional French wines. Open Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, and a dynamite happy hour.  A 24 hour room service menu from Tableau takes in-room dining to a new level. Perfect for that intimate in-room dinner or breakfast in bed.

The Art of De-stressing

When it comes to de-stressing, the Loden and the natural outdoor beauty of Vancouver have found a perfect synergy. Let’s start indoors, shall we? The BeFit Studio is 1,400 sq ft of sprawling fitness space with an abundance of natural light, provided by floor-to-ceiling windows with city views on one side and a waterfall and garden sanctuary on the other. The 24 hour studio offers something for all fitness levels, with strength training equipment, boxing equipment, yoga props, cardio and free weights, it’s the perfect place to blow off some steam or keep that six pack intact. As a reflection of Vancouver’s namaste, find a yoga mat and a 24-hour yoga channel in your room. Or, find your zen in the Loden Spa Suite, an intimate treatment room exclusively available for guests who desire facials, massages and mani/pedi bliss. Since this is the land of the active, we recommend a 60min foot reflexology treatment, improve your circulation and revitalize your energy pathways with this point specific reflexology massage. Also includes a head, neck and shoulder massage. Also complimentary with any spa treatment (or $25 per 30min without), kick back in the Infrared Sauna and stimulate the body’s natural immune system and remove those unwanted toxins (considering Vancouver’s lively bar scene, this comes highly recommended).

For those seeking a little more adventure in their de-stressing, the Loden introduced WanderFit, an extension of the BeFit gym, that offers guests authentic ways to experience the area’s natural beauty and mountain terrain through local expert guided treks and biking excursions, all from the doorsteps of the Loden. The leisurely inclined can hop on a complimentary Electra-Townie cruiser bike and explore the city terrain at your own pace using one of the bike maps provided.
