The Setting
Within the 1190 islands that make up the Maldives, you’ll find a diamond amongst gems in Joali Maldives on Muravandhoo Island. Just a seaplane hop or speed boat cruise takes you to the Raa Atoll, home to the island bustling with coconut trees, pristine white sands and blue waters teeming with vibrant sea life (they even have their own marine biologist on staff). The most attractive feature about this family-friendly recipient of a 2020 Conde’ Nast Readers' Choice Award, is the care they take for its fragile ecosystem. The resort was built around existing island trees and they’ve implemented the Joali Reef Restoration Programme, helping to rehabilitate much of the 85 percent of the Maldives’ coral reef lost during the devastating bleaching event of 2016.
In addition to Joali's heart for conservation, creativity is inspired throughout as the first and only art-immersive hotel in the Maldives. In addition to the Art Studio & Gallery, the entire island is filled with interactive and experiential art pieces. Some of the work is commissioned in collaboration with local artists and artisans to give you an enrichment of local cultures while you support their work and communities. So, grab a cocktail, an art map, and set out to nourish your creative side.
