Boutique Hotel Revival brings the charm to historic downtown Baltimore.

The Setting

Right in the middle of the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood in the city affectionately known as “Charm City,” sits the brand new Hotel Revival. Once a private mansion owned by an art enthusiast and site of Baltimore Museum of Art’s inaugural exhibition in 1923, the 14-story hotel tips its hat to its history with a prominent art narrative woven into the design and guest experience. The hip Mount Vernon neighborhood is the perfect home blending historic architecture and charm preserved by local shop owners, galleries and restaurants alongside beautiful parks, iconic churches, art galleries and theaters. In fact, Revival embodies its name by contributing to the renewal of the historic neighborhood through a vibrant guest experience, its signature restaurant, Square Meal, a beautiful rooftop restaurant and garden bar, Topside, and private karaoke rooms for your singing pleasure. Needless to say, it looks like Hotel Revival is pushing Charm City’s lure to near critical levels.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Once a residential building for metropolitan locals in the early 20’s, Revival’s 107 guest rooms and suites mirror how the hotel’s former residents might have lived in the spaces over a period of time, reflected superbly, using multiple interior styles by award-winning SLDesign firm. Think, mid-century chic meets 20’s glamour with the modernist of moderns and a touch of 70’s retro, meaning, Revival’s former tenants must have had fabulous taste. Find bright rooms with downtown views outfitted with oxidized oak finishes, visually stimulating wallpaper and concept-driven accents. Each room features timeless art showcasing Baltimore’s contemporary Renaissance. Swathe yourself in an experiential mix of antiques, mid-century textiles, and diverse blends of canvases, prints, and ceramics commissioned by local artists and curated by Paradigm Gallery. Indulge in wonderful touches like Luxe Linens, 49” LG smart TV’s, free WiFi for guests, Soundfreaq Soundrise Bluetooth radios, and luxury Jonathan Adler bath amenities. Doggies are welcome to stay per a $75 fee and your pooch will love the surrounding neighborhood, too.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Kind travelers seeking a revival of their taste buds and their joy of life will be simply delighted by the Revival’s dining and drinking pair of outposts. Starring the farm-inspired neighborhood market meets restaurant, Square Meal, and buzzing rooftop restaurant and garden bar, Topside. Both are helmed by Baltimore favorite and culinary powerhouse, Wilbur Cox, known for focusing on local and sustainable ingredients that are good for the mind, body and soul. And speaking of soul, after indulging in a festival of local flavors, sway on into one of the hotel’s Karaoke Rooms. Hidden in plain sight, the rooms are Mt Vernon’s treasured secret spot to belt out a tune and sip on fab cocktails, like the aptly named Liquid Courage. You can snack on a rotating menu of munchies from chef Cox while you unleash your inner rock god. “Hook” by (Kind) Blues Traveler would, naturally, be our song choice (sorry).

Square Meal - Named as an ode to the base square around Baltimore’s Washington Monument at Mt Vernon place, Square Meal showcases locally inspired dishes for breakfast lunch & dinner. By day, enjoy cold pressed juices, bright earthy greens and hearty sandwiches. When the sun goes down, chef Cox pairs crafted cocktails and hand selected wines with beautifully approachable dishes. Dine in or grab to go!  Breakfast: 6:30-10:30am daily, Lunch: 11:30 - 2pm daily, Dinner: 5-9pm daily. Market/Counter 6:30-4pm daily. Bar is open Sun-Weds 4pm-10pm, Thurs-Sat 4pm-11pm.

Topside - Overlooking Baltimore’s historic Mt Vernon, this resto and garden bar features a menu flowing with fresh-from-the-sea dishes paired with a rotating selection of craft beers including Revival’s own specialty brew, Thirstay, crafted by Peabody Heights Brewery, one of the oldest breweries in town. With 13 taps of local brews and more than 60 bottles and cans, it's no surprise Topside is a hit with locals and Kind travelers for lively happy hours, weekend brunches and intimate date nights. Brunch: Sunday 10:30am- 2:30pm, Dinner: 4pm weekly, open til late on weekends.

The Garden Room - a secluded oasis nestled within Topside, the Garden Room features custom cocktails and tea service with non-traditional bites in a tropical greenery and floral setting.

The Art of De-stressing

The Revival features a state-of-the-art fitness center complete with an elliptical, two treadmills, one spin bike, TRX, plus free weights and medicine balls. Those seeking more of a traditional spa-style destress regiment are encouraged to seek local recommendations from the knowledgeable concierge.

Sometimes a relaxing stroll through yesteryear does the trick, be sure to find time to take in the Revival’s historic Mt Vernon neighborhood, former home to the city’s most wealthy families and luminaries. Walk in the famous footsteps and pass former homes of famous writers, thought leaders and revolutionaries like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Gertrude Stein, then head up to Topside for a relaxing local craft beer.

Special Rooms

The Miss Mary Suite pays homage to a well-known Mt. Vernon progressive, Mary Elizabeth Garrett, who was one of the most revolutionary suffragists of our time. While she wasn’t afraid to stir a pot or two, neither does SLD Design in their curating the design of this storied suite. Find one King bed along with two separate rooms, one featuring a sleek, 8-plus seat oak boardroom table. Each bright room sports soft restored woods and crown molding from the original interiors of the 1920’s apartment building’s past along with our modern delights like the 55” smart TV with streaming.
