Hotel Aspen brings modern charm to the heart of this world famous mountain town.

The Setting

Let’s talk about a little town called Aspen. As a former silver mining boomtown, it's the capital of the hippie movement of the 70’s with a colorful cultural history, a super posh shopping destination, a foodie and adventurers paradise, a port-of-call for refined ski enthusiasts and a town that rises early and stays up late. Smack dab in the middle of this rustic 3.5 sq mile village with enough charm to go around is Hotel Aspen. Sister property to Kind Hotel, Molly Gibson Lodge, this counterpart oozes with modern vibes and contemporary decor more reminiscent of a metropolitan boutique hotel than classic ski lodge. Upon arrival (courtesy of the hotel’s free airport shuttle), find modern delights like manicured grounds offsetting a slick charcoal exterior and a tall glass windowed facade adorned with fire engine red awnings. The crown jewel of the property is the newly remodeled year round pool, decked out with wicker chairs, buddha beds and a jacuzzi. Some touches still tip the hat to classic alpine chalets thanks to antlered chandeliers and a giant stone fireplace in the lobby. What this hotel brings to the family table (along with the ever lovely complimentary Apres’ Ski hour, of course) is featured rooms with fireplaces and private outdoor jacuzzis. Ah, we can almost feel the bubbles as we soak under the stars.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Hotel Aspen’s sleek and modern exterior pervades, quite seamlessly, to the 45 rooms and suites (pet-friendly rooms available). Experience dark wood accents and natural prints with a pop of warming color in most rooms. The technology hungry will be well fed with flat screen HDTV’s, iPod docks, geometric styled lamps and free WiFi. Some rooms also feature kitchenettes with bar-style seating.

In the bathrooms you can luxuriate your senses and your environmental consciousness with Gilchrist & Soames bath products. A brand of products dedicated to environmental stewardship by helping reduce its footprint by using recycled packaging, employing green manufacturing processes and partnering with like-minded companies. Sooooo worth mentioning too: ground level rooms feature charming patios and Jacuzzi Suites feature, of course, private patio jacuzzis, perfect for taking in those breathtaking mountain views.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

While you won't find a traditional restaurant, the daily Complimentary Breakfast creates a foundation for the most important meal of the day. Start your adrenaline-fueled adventure with a freshly prepared feast with options such as scrambled eggs, made-to-order waffles and home-style potatoes. For lighter fare, go for hot oatmeal, fresh yogurt and seasonal berries. Of course, there are coffee and teas for that extra kick. Across the street find the charming Main Street Cafe, should your breakfast cravings require a little more panache.

After carving up the slopes, it's time to indulge in Hotel Aspen's Complimentary Apres’ Ski, found daily from 4:30-6:00 pm during ski season. Borrowed from the French habit of relaxing drinks and mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres directly off the mountain, Hotel Aspen is proud to keep this Alpine tradition alive and kicking. Share stories of the slopes and unwind by the crackling fire with a glass of wine, a cold draft beer or hot cocoa and nosh on gourmet cheeses, crackers, fresh fruits and other varieties like hot chili.

The Art of De-stressing

Aspen has four local mountains suited for all outdoor adventurers offering world-class skiing and miles and miles of pristine trails to be enjoyed by skiers and snowboarders of all levels. From Aspen Mountain right in the heart of the village, to family friendly Buttermilk, the Aspen Highlands back trails to the boarding favorite Snowmass resort, there’s a reason the name Aspen is synonymous with skiing.

Not to be outdone, the warmer months also shine in Aspen, literally, Aspen receives 300 days of sunshine a year. So with a year round “peak” season, get outdoors and experience the best in hiking, fishing, camping and biking. There’s always something for the active Kind Traveler to do in the valley.

By the end of your day with all the excursions and activities Aspen has to offer, a dip in the jacuzzi is the respite you’ll crave the most.
