Have a modern-day taste of old movie-star glam with a stay at The Hollywood Roosevelt.

The Setting

The Hollywood Roosevelt is a star-studded step back in time, first opening its doors in 1927, and hosting the very first Academy Awards in its Blossom Ballroom two years later. Flash-forward to the present and that Golden Age refinement still rings true, but now combined with the modern luxuries of a contemporary hotel. This trendy Hollywood hotel lies in the heart of Tinseltown, just across the street from Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the Dolby Theater, and Walk of Fame. Historic, contemporary, convenient; it doesn’t get much better (or more “Hollywood”) than that in Los Angeles.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Glam meets paradise with the Roosevelt’s variety of 298 guest rooms, from poolside cabanas to glamorous suites to lofty Tower Rooms with views of the Hollywood Hills. Find shining hardwood floors, HDTVs, and a minibar stocked with healthy snacks. Bonus points that you can bring your pets along for the trip too.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Prepare for delicious vegan, vegetarian, and plenty of carnivorous options in a farm-to-table kitchen where the fresh, organic flavors that California is known for reign supreme. From a poolside café and 24-hour burger bar, to trendy bars and a fine-dining brasserie, head Chef Tim Goodell has your palette covered. Bon appétit.

  • Public Kitchen and Bar – This critically acclaimed, chic brasserie serves American classics with fine-dining flair. Open for lunch, dinner, and a special late-night menu, Public Kitchen’s highlights include the pumpkin panzanella salad with brioche croutons, apple, and arugula, or the wild porcini spaghetti with cured egg yolk and Parmesan reggiano. Just as show-stopping are any (and all) of the vegetable sides.

  • Tropicana Pool Café – Find small bites and cocktails at this cool poolside enclave, lined with palm trees, where if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll see your favorite A-lister. A casual oasis by day and trendy hotspot by night, Tropicana is the best of both worlds. Start your day off with a superfood acai bowl, topped with granola, fresh fruit, shaved coconut, and local honey, or try out the healthy spa wrap with egg whites, avocado, cheddar, and pico de gallo. Is anyone else’s stomach growling?

  • 25 Degrees – This upscale diner serves some of the city’s best burgers, and if that’s not enough, it's open 24 hours to satisfy those burger cravings day or night (or middle of the night). Crowd favorites also include a selection of spiked shakes (boozy milkshakes for the win!). Craft yourself a personalized breakfast scramble, with options like smoked mozzarella, caramelized onions, and roasted red peppers, or try out a fresh chopped vegetable salad for lunch, highlighted by six kinds of fresh produce topped off with vinaigrette.

  • The Spare Room – Contemporary nightlife meets old-fashioned fun at the Spare Room, where you’ll find board games and bowling alongside an innovative cocktail list. Order any number of classic cocktails, like a Moscow Mule, or if you come in with a group, try one of their punch bowls. A small list of snacks is also available, such as truffle fries with garlic aioli and house pickled, seasonal market veggies. Best hotel bar ever?

  • Library Bar – This intimate cocktail den is as seductive as they come, from its ambiance to its unique take on drinks. Here, the traditional menu is thrown out, and instead, guests choose their favorite ingredients from a bar of fresh produce and herbs. Expert mixologists whip up something both unique and delicious, suited perfectly, and personally, to you.

Room service is available 24-hours a day, with menu items from both 25 Degrees and Tropicana Café.

The Art of De-stressing

While the Roosevelt is home to a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, perhaps its best de-stressing amenity is its location, convenient to a number of nearby trails. Following a trail run or hike, continue the outdoor theme with a treatment in the private massage garden (yes, please). If you happen to be visiting on the third Saturday of the month, enjoy “yoga and mimosas.” Has there ever been a better de-stressing combo?

One of the hotel’s most notable features, however, is its mesmerizing swimming pool, intricately designed and hand painted by renowned artist David Hockney. For a different type of de-stressing, next door is Beacher’s Madhouse, a Vaudeville-inspired theater that hosts an eclectic assortment of boundary-pushing variety acts, from contortionists and fire-breathers to burlesque dancers and impersonators. Are you as curious as we are?

Tower Rooms cater to every type of traveler, offering the available options of a single king, queen, or two double beds. Choose from superior rooms or larger deluxe options, or go next-level, and choose the studio. If you really want to up the ante for you and your group of friends, choose the adults-only Cabana Room, featuring king-size beds and private balconies or patios, just steps from the pool and Tropicana Café.

The Cabana Room also offer a sultry suite option, featuring kitchenettes, separate parlors, and marble mosaic rainfall showers. Tower Room suites sit atop the highest floors, meaning views of the Hollywood Sign, Los Angeles skyline, and beyond. Sleep like a baby in canopy king beds (or doubles) and spread out with a separate living and dining room as well. Talk about sweet suites.

Special Rooms

Indulge in the Marilyn (Cabana) Suite to embrace the Hollywood experience full-on. Its lofty, open floor plan was once home to Ms. Monroe, but now has your name written all over it, featuring a wrap-around balcony that exudes the style of Marilyn. Utmost glam, however, is found in the Gable and Lombard Penthouse (as in Clarke Gable and Carole Lombard), a three-level mini mansion with several plush bedrooms and baths, a huge rooftop deck, and large bar for entertaining.
