ABOUT
The Setting
Dream Hollywood truly stands in a league of its own–as experiential hospitality at it's best. Spanning almost an entire city block in prime La La Land location, this isn’t just a hotel. It’s the Southern California dream come to life (a statement that serves as the hotel’s mission, and of which it most definitely succeeds). Its modern simplicity seamlessly fuses its sleek, dramatic interiors with natural outdoor elements, making an “out as in” vibe all around. Find strips of grass, stone tile flooring, nighttime lighting that mimics shadows cast by the sun, and an open-air pedestrian pathway between the lobby and nightlife area (which as a side note, is chiefly operated by the TAO group, featuring four on-site restaurants/bars) whose dividing half-walls are lined with candles to boot. The spacious lobby is centered around a 22-foot marble fireplace, reminiscent of the hearths found in many glamorous mid-century LA homes. But the real nod to Hollywood? Dream’s rooftop pool scene: as quintessential and utterly fabulous as a day in the SoCal sun can be. As a final note, dogs and cats are welcome, too.
Sleep and Sanctuary
As is to be expected from this stunner of a hotel, Dream’s accommodations are absolutely glamorous. Step in with keyless entry to your calming and comfortable guestroom, which is centered on a focus of environmental-friendliness; i.e. our Kind of place. The immediate draw will be your sprawling view— because guys, this place is made of windows for days. Enjoy floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall glass in every single one of its 178 guestrooms and suites, with those on the corners upping the ante with two such windowed walls. But while this means sunshiney, natural light all day long (plus cotton candy sunsets, as this is California) you’ll still sleep like a baby thanks to blackout shades drawn at night. Lather up in rainforest showers with exclusive Karl Lagerfeld bath products, provided in large re-usable bottles to reduce plastic waste. Get techy with bedside tablets attending to all of your vacation needs, in addition to mobile registration, mobile keys, complimentary high speed Wi-Fi and 55” smart TV’s. Welcome to the future, Kind Travelers! (A ‘cheers’ at your fully-stocked minibar is encouraged, here). Dream has truly thought of everything you didn’t even know you needed.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
While this property is first and foremost a hotel, its drinking and dining repertoire serves as a separate attraction all together. Spanning four restaurants and nightclubs (plus the lobby: a grab-and-go bar by day and cocktail counter by night), the TAO Group Hospitality truly knocks it out of the park. Tour the globe with your taste buds, from the globally renowned TAO Asian Bistro (making its first west-coast appearance with this Kind Hotel), to multi-ethnic dishes on Chef Santos' signature menu at Beauty & Essex, to local SoCal fare at The Highlight Room Grill–making sure there’s something here for everyone. This includes all different dietary specialties too (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and organic), both in room and all over the property.
The Highlight Room – When in California, eat as the Californians do. Not only does this encompass a locally-inspired menu, served from breakfast through midday (and booze at night), but also the setting. Because this place is rooftop. Sip creative cocktails while dipping your toes in the pool, all to the backdrop of Hollywood Hills views, with the Pacific Ocean beyond. It really doesn’t get much better–or more LA–than this. Once the sun goes down, dance the night away with handcrafted cocktails and sounds from a curated program of top DJs, poolside in the summer or in The Lounge through the rest of the year.
Beauty & Essex – The hotel’s main restaurant serves new American classics with a multi-ethnic twist. Its two-story dining room features outdoor seating on both levels, and also welcomes in natural light with a twenty-foot natural skylight. Because opulence.
Tao – Foodies have long flocked to this extravagant bistro’s other locations, so you should be totally stoked that it’s putting down roots on the West Coast, too. Its diverse Asian menu both spans and combines the likes of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai techniques/ingredients, culminating in a flavor extravaganza that shouldn’t be missed. Side note, this space is huge: encompassing 300 seats, four private dining rooms, a lengthy bar, and its focal point, a staircase of utter grandeur.
Dream offers in-room fine dining from a large menu of bistro-inspired cuisine. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and/or snacks, all in bed if you please.
The Art of De-stressing
De-stress and rejuvenate both body and mind with a personalized spa treatment in the comfort of your room. Melt away stressors with a luscious massage, or get your skin glowing with an aromatic facial– options that merely top the relaxation list from hotel's spa partner, Soothe. When feeling inclined towards the other end of the wellness spectrum, however, head to Dream’s state-of-the-art, 24-hour gym. The hotel has teamed up with local fitness expert Gunnar Peterson (and if he’s an expert by LA standards, you know this guy’s good) to offer a fully immersive fitness experience with a local twist. His program both tracks and assists fitness goals to help guests of all levels kick some serious butt–and tone it, too. We’re as intrigued as you are.
This all being said, sunny SoCal is definitely meant to be enjoyed outdoors, too. Dream has a team of local experts to offer suggestions on hikes and outdoor activities located in and around Hollywood, like Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park. After enjoying your Los Angeles adventure, head on up to The Highlight Room for the aforementioned quintessential Hollywood rooftop pool scene. Sprawl on chaise loungers or snazzy cabanas, which are made of retractable walls and roofs (entirely eliminating the sun v. shade dilemma). Poolside drinks encouraged.
