ABOUT

The Setting

A 30-minute seaplane journey over crystalline Indian Ocean waters dappled with the archipelagos that compose the Maldives, brings you to the stunning waters of the Baa Atoll and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu Resort. As you land, you enter one of the world’s essential havens – a designated UNESCO biosphere reserve and home to incredible marine life and reefs. Energy flows as easy as the tides here, so prepare to be inspired and relaxed in an organic, yet elegant setting. It’s called barefoot luxury. With such an important and cherished setting, it’s welcoming to know Coco Palm makes the most of it. They promote awareness about ongoing environmental issues within the region and connect with like-minded individuals to discuss ways in which they and the local community can help protect the environment and nourish its inhabitants. There is an on-site Marine Biologist to educate and promote conservation and a marine turtle rescue center on the island.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Coco Palm is 98 island villas ranging from charming beachside bungalows to luxurious overwater lagoon villas. Your task (and privilege )is to choose between six different types of villas. Whether on land or over sea, each offers a soulful sanctuary of comfort, sunrise/sunset views and direct access to powdery sand beaches. For land lovers – lush tropical gardens, splash pools and outdoor jungle showers are a few of the spoils in the Beach, Sunset Beach or Deluxe Villas. If by sea – you’ll enjoy luxurious lagoon villas perched over turquoise waters with thatched roofs, outdoor showers, and hand-carved furniture for your delight. We’d say we don’t envy your task, but we do. We so do.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Two welcoming restaurants and two beachside bars satiate every Kind Traveler’s appetite for locally-sourced ingredients from land, sea, and tree. Tucked away in the deep green of the island’s flourishing plant life, just moments from the largest beach, Cowrie restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your other dining option, Cornus, lovingly serves fresh Thai cuisine under a canopy of trees or a thatched roof. For lazy afternoons, Beach Bar and its locale in powdery sand next to blue waters, or Conch Bar with its tropical island feel are the places to be. Supplying much of the bounty for food and drink, the on-island herb gardens provide a selection of organic herbs, fruits and vegetables, also limiting the impact of food miles to the island.
