Come discover yourself at a contemporary eco-lodge in the Swiss Alps that is taking action on the importance of sustainability.

The Setting

Surrounded by the rugged Swiss Alps, including the pinnacle of mountain aesthetic, Matterhorn, is the village of Zermatt, home to CERVO Mountain Resort. While the resort, comprising seven modern lodges made from natural materials gives off quaint alpine chalet vibes, CERVO has a worldly vision. The resort has undergone a complete makeover with a renewed emphasis on the importance of sustainability, in harmony with the nature of Zermatt (the entire town is a combustible engine-free zone). Among some initiatives, guests are offered a carbon-neutral stay in accordance with myClimate, a newly implemented geothermal heat pump allows the hotel to generate 95 percent of its energy requirements, and 10 percent of water sales are donated to the Water is Right Foundation. You might even say when it comes to environmental awareness, CERVO Mountain Resort is putting its best foot forward (even if that foot is in a ski boot).

Sleep and Sanctuary

Here’s where CERVO feels like a unique ski village unto itself, your accommodation options are 54 rooms and suites set in four separate Alpine lodges. Nomad Lodge is perfect for the adventurer who loves to plop in comfort after a long day out or take in mountain views from a private terrace. The Alpinist Lodge specializes in peace and relaxation, from luxurious double rooms to suites, each is equipped with a personal bar, kitchen, handmade Hästen beds and views of Matterhorn. The exclusive Huntsman Lodge offers guests Spa Suites with saunas and balcony tubs to giant triple suites and the opportunity to occupy the entire lodge. Lastly, the Overlook Lodge is set 300m away from the resort with individual apartments ranging from Cosy Studios to three-bedroom penthouses. There’s definitely a lodging style for everyone (including your furry freund)!

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Zermatt is well known as a valley of culinary curiosities and accolades ( it does border Italy after all). Luckily, some of these most revered eateries are in the hotel. The CERVO spirit is alive in well in the bars and five restaurants, all focus on fresh and sustainable ingredients and guests are offered Zermatt water (filtered and carbonated if desired), with 10% of the sales going to WIR (Water Is Right). The foundation advocates access to clean and affordable drinking water and sanitation worldwide. As far as Aprés ski is concerned, ski-in to end a day on the slopes in style. On two terraces, located directly at the end of the slope, find a curated program promising special evenings like live DJ sessions and delicious drinks. With a stunning view of the Matterhorn and surrounded by warm hospitality, guests and locals alike celebrate the unique CERVO feeling.

  • Bazaar - Inspired by the lively markets of the East, the Bazaar is the heart of CERVO. This is the place where everyone gets together: modern nomads, explorers and locals. The atmosphere is relaxed, people chat, drink, meet, dine. Many dishes are 100% vegetarian and are served throughout the day.

  • Ferdinand - At Ferdinand, only Swiss products are used – most of them even from the Valais itself. Along with an aprés ski menu, Kind Travelers should love the Vegan Karma mixed grill with marinated tofu.

  • Madre Nostra - The Madre Nostra celebrates Italy’s culinary tradition in all its deliciousness with homemade pasta. Enjoy modern creations and refined classics with all the wonderful treasures Mother Earth has to offer. To make sure that they reach your table as fresh as possible, the ingredients come directly from local farms and fishermen.

  • CERVO Kitchen - At lunchtime the rooms of Madre Nostra are open as the CERVO KITCHEN and provide you with the best dishes from all three CERVO restaurants. Directly from the ski slope into the cozy restaurant or onto the large terrace. Grab a curry baingan bharta with eggplant and get back on the slopes.

  • Grapes & Juniper - So hidden, you almost miss it. The entrance to the Grapes & Juniper Bar is reserved for those who look closely. Once in, there are 40 different types of gin and wines from all over the world to discover. The atmosphere is relaxed and the cocktail masters behind the bar are happy to help if the choice is difficult.

 The Art of De-stressing

Enter the realm of Alpine-style bliss at the Mountain Ashram Spa, immersing yourself in Bhutanese stone baths, holistic wellness, and the Northern European art of sauna. In this peaceful space blending into the natural surroundings, centuries-old traditions and rituals using natural herbs and fresh spring water offer you a pampering journey into your inner self. Try a Mountain Flow ritual inspired by East Asian techniques which will energize your body and soul, preparing you for another day’s adventure on the slopes.

Take care of your body in CERVO fashion with complimentary yoga, pilates, and meditation programs. The Ritual Room, with its open architecture and natural materials, leaves you plenty of space for personal development. To balance between relaxation and activities, find the gym to cater to your fitness needs featuring a vast assortment of state-of-the-art equipment and personal training opportunities. To prepare for the mountains, first, test your skills on the climbing wall located in the safe environment of the hotel.

Lest we forget, Matterhorn, in all its splendor, greets you each day like a beacon to the heavens. Around this natural treasure and in the Zermatt region you will find year-round skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, cross-country skiing and a vast network of winter hiking trails. In addition to 400km of hiking trails, there is a forest fun park, via ferratas, countless mountains to conquer and in Täsch, a golf course and the resorts Schali Lago, a mountain lake offering wakeboarding and beaches.
